Main Purpose
This is a position that contributes to servicing Union membership, provinces, regions and branches.
Key Performance Areas
(a) To be responsible for compiling and editing of all NEHAWU publications;
(b) To assist with the layout, content and design of NEHAWU publications;
(c) To take briefs, drafting articles, media statements, conducting approval process dissemination of publications;
(d) To source and interview personalities or sources for features or articles
(e) To maintain excellent standards with regard to editorial
(f) To source photographs to illustrate articles
(g) To provide photographic and videographic services for NEHAWU activities
(h) To provide necessary support to the communications department
(i) To conduct research as and when required to do so
(j) To assist and provide support to the provinces to ensure consistency
(k) To ensure confidentiality at all times
(l) To pay attention to detail and accuracy at all times
(m) To be responsible for the archiving of all the NEHAWU publications, photos and audio visuals
(n) To ensure that NEHAWU publications are distributed to all constituency and stakeholders
(o) To assist with the sourcing of advertising for NEHAWU publications.
The Person:
- Individuals meeting the following criteria are to apply:
• Matric plus Certificate in Journalism
• Diploma in Public Relations or Media Relations
• Relevant experience of media
• Communication Skills (both verbal & written)
• Knowledge or experience of working in a trade union environment
• Ability to manage projects & willingness to work long hours
• Ability to accept responsibility and make decisions
• Ability to work well in a team
• Planning and organizing skills
• Report writing skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Valid Driver’s License
Remuneration:
- Salary is negotiable
