NEHAWU in Gauteng wishes Nelson Mandela a wonderful 94th birthday and may he live longer. The union in the province will be celebrating the Nelson Mandela Day at the Sebokeng Hospital, Sedibeng Region, where in partnership with the Hospital Board and Management of the institution, will be painting all hospital corridors and other areas that needs revamping and upgrading.
It is our conviction that this project forms one of the pillars in the transformation of our public health facilities and we further believe that it will complement the government`s plan of infrastructure development in our hospitals.
We believe that with the right attitude and commitment from all stakeholders, especially from the management of hospitals, this Mandela Day project can be used to rally all stakeholders to take ownership of their health facilities and participate in transformation programmes.
We also intend to use this day to highlight the plight of many hospitals in relation to lack of:
• Patients Safety and Security
• Proper infection control
• Unavailability of medicines
• Unavailability of equipments
The SABC Lesedi FM will be broadcasting live from the venue and we urge all stakeholders, especially community organizations to support this project that is aimed at improving the ailing conditions of our public hospital facilities.
