NEHAWU Limpopo Welcomes The Arrest Of A Suspect Involved In The Ga-Chuene CLinic Rape

The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union [NEHAWU] in Limpopo welcomes the arrest of the rape suspect of two nurses at Ga-Chuene Clinic by the enforcement team of the South African Police Service [SAPS].
The suspect is a repeating offender released on parole on similar charges of rape. He previously terrorised people of Ga-Chuene and Maja village and raped woman in surrounding villages before the clinic incident. This raises more questions than answers about our law enforcement. We call on the SAPS to capacitate the investigating officers with the ability to bring a water tight case before courts.
As NEHAWU, we will mobilise members to picket in numbers on his second court appearance which is on the 09th April 2025 and make a clarion call for him to be denied bail.
Lastly, we call on the provincial government to strengthen security in all healthcare institutions and the workplace in general, and this must include the involvement of Community Policing Forums and other community formations.
